How to Access Snap Map on the Snapchat App
To open Snapmap on Snapchat all you need to do is just tap on a friend’s picture and they have their location shared, a map preview will appear on their profile below their name. Tap it to open the Snap Map. You can also open it by gliding up on the camera screen. Snapchat also offers you the option to set whom you want to share your location with. Yes, you can choose whether you want only you, your friends, or specific friends to see where you are on the Snap Map.
How to Use Snap Map on the Snapchat App
You would be surprised to know that you can use the Snap Map in a number of ways. Here are some ways to use it like a pro.
1. Those friends who have chosen to show you their location will appear on the Snap Map. You can know where they are and tap on them to start a chat. To go to their profile, tap and hold.
2. Looking to find where your old Snapchat friend is? Use the search bar on the Snap Map to find out where he/she is on the Map.
3. While going through the Snap Map you might find some color splashes over some areas. Those are known as heat zones where people are highly snapping. Blue color denotes a few snaps and red means that a lot of activity is taking place in that area. You can tap on that area to view snaps.
4. Do you know that the heat zones often represent hot spots? That means some popular event is happening in that part. By tapping on the colored portion you can reveal the circular story collection and watch it.
5. Suppose you’re snapping from an area with its own story collection, choose ‘Our Story’ from the ‘Send To’ tab after you take a snap. You can also tap ‘+Custom’ at the top of the ‘Send To’ tab. This way you can create your own Geo Story, which nearby people will be able to see.
How to Use the Snap Map from the Web
Just like you use Snap Map on the mobile app, you can use it on the Snapchat web. Rather than dragging the map with your fingers, you just have to use your cursor to do it. Use your mouse to zoom in or zoom out. Not only this, but you also can also view stories through Snap Map on the Snapchat web. Hover your mouse to the colored area on the map and click on it. A popup window will show you all the stories of that area.
How to Change Your Location Settings in Snapchat
In the future, if you want to change your Map and location settings, here is how t do it –
1. Click on your profile icon at the upper-left corner of your screen and then tap the gear icon to open your settings. Scroll down to find the ‘Who Can’ section and choose ‘See My Location’ from the list.
2. On the Settings tab,  change your settings accordingly. There are three options in that- 
• My Friends-  Through this, you allow all those people you are friends with on Snapchat to see you on the map.
• My Friends, Except- Through this, you can restrict anyone on your Snapchat contacts from viewing you on the map.
• Only These Friends- Through this, you can choose amongst all your friends with whom you want to share your location.
3. When you tap the ‘Ghost Mode’ switch to blue, nobody can see your location, not even your friends. From the menu that appears, you can set a time limit for how you want the ghost mode to be on, like three or 24 hours of Ghost Mode or you can keep it on forever.
4. Don’t worry about finding an option to save changes. Snapchat is smart and does it on its own.
